Budget cuts leave some staff worried
The 6.3 million dollar cut could be responsible for the loss of an estimated 100 jobs across the Centennial district. And of those jobs, 11 of them are teachers at CHS.

Seven period day proposed for next year
As the recent recession continues to damage the United States’ economy, Oregon schools are beginning to feel the repercussions of funding loss. Due to recent necessity to reduce Centennial’s budget by $6 million to $10 million, the district office as well as administrators have begun searching for ways to uphold the current atmosphere of CHS while cutting teaching staff and other activities. One of the many plans discussed is that of the high school turning to a seven period day.

Centennial’s new budget proposal
With the current economic crisis, Centennial faces its own budget deficit facing the 2009-2010 school year. The latest estimations show that the Centennial School District is going to face at least a 10% loss in funding from the federal government, with more money expected to be removed from the budget before the end of this school year.
